Basic Introduction
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection or the IBPS conducts the CRP Clerical Examination (IBPS CLERK) for the recruitment of suitable candidates for the post of Clerk in various participating banks. The post of the Clerk is one of the lower ranks in the management ladder but the first point of contact for the customer.
The clerk is responsible for all customer dealings from account handling to loans to cash handling or data entry. The clerical post is an important one from the viewpoint of the customer. Once getting selected through IBPS CLEK and getting recruited, the candidate would be responsible for carrying out all of the above tasks and more.
The IBPS Clerk examination is conducted annually, over a period of seven months. The candidate must undergo the following stages to be recruited provisionally as a Clerk in one of the participating banks:
- Preliminary Examination
- Mains Examination
- Provisional Allotment
A candidate has to clear the IBPS CLERK Prelims and IBPS CLERK Mains examinations with high merit to be shortlisted for Provisional Allotment as a Clerk in the Participating Banks.

Application Form:
The online application process usually begins within 2-3 days of the release of the official notification and continues for about 20 days as decided by IBPS.
The application can only be filled online through the IBPS website; there are no other means to apply for the IBPS Clerk Examination.
The basic steps to apply for the IBPS Clerk Exam are:
- Visit the IBPS website.
- Locate the link for the Registration Portal.
- Enter the Basic Information and click on “Save and Next”.
- Note down the Provisional Registration Number and Password generated.
- Enter details as required on the other tab screens and upload the required documents in the prescribed format.
- Verify all details before clicking on the “final submit” button.
- Make Online payment for the application fee.
- Print the e-receipt and the application form for further reference.
Eligibility Criteria for IBPS Clerk 2022 Exam
The candidates willing to apply for the IBPS Clerk Examination should meet the below basic Eligibility Criteria:
- Nationality
- Age (as on 01st July 2022): The age of the candidate for all posts should be between 20 years to 28 years, i.e., the candidate must have been born not earlier than 02nd July 1994 and not later than 01st July 2002, with both dates inclusive.
- A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a Government recognized University or an equivalent qualification as recognized by the Central Government of India.
- Expertise, i.e., reading and writing skills, in the official language of the State or the Union Territory is preferable.

Admit Card
The Admit Card for the IBPS Clerk Preliminary Exam and the IBPS Clerk Main Exam are issued separately 10-15 days before the date of the examination. The candidate can download and print this important piece of paper through the Admit Card portal accessible through the IBPS website.
Steps to download the Admit Card are:
- Visit the IBPS website.
- Click on the link to Download Call Letter/ Admit Card.
- Enter the login credentials and the captcha image.
- Click on the Login button to view and download the Admit Card.
Candidates should check the details as displayed on the Admit Card for any discrepancy, and contact the concerned authorities if any is found.
An original photo ID proof along with one photocopy should be kept handy, to be taken along with the Admit Card to the Examination Hall.
The candidates are requested to keep visiting this space for regular updates on the release of Admit Card at each stage.
Result
The result for each stage is declared separately after the exam is conducted. The result is declared either in the downloadable PDF format or made available online.
If the result is declared in PDF format, Registration/Roll numbers of the candidates who have qualified for the next stage are mentioned. Candidates can search for their Registration/Roll number in the list.
The result if declared online would contain the details of the candidate, the marks scored and the rank in the merit list (if mentioned).
Cut-off
The cut-off knowledge at each stage is important for the candidate to know where s/he stands in terms of merit and how much more hard work has to go into the next stage.
There is a State-wise as well as Category-wise Cut-off for both IBPS Clerk Prelims and IBPS Clerk Mains. The candidate is required to clear both the cut-offs in order to qualify for the next stage.

IBPS CLERK PROVISIONAL ALLOTMENT
On successfully clearing the IBPS Clerk Mains examination, the candidate is provisionally allotted to ONE of the participating Banks on the basis of merit-cum-preference.
IBPS Clerk Selection Procedure

The release of the official notification of IBPS Clerk examination signals the beginning of the Examination process, which starts with the candidate registering for the examination. Once the candidate is successfully registered, s/he becomes eligible to appear for the Preliminary Examination. The candidate should clear both the sectional as well as the overall state cut-off in order to qualify for the Main Examination. Further, the same procedure is followed after the Main Examination to shortlist candidates for Provisional Allotment.

IBPS Clerk Job Profile and Salary
The post of the Clerk in the bank is one of the most important posts as it is the first point of contact for the customer. A Clerk or a person in a similar post is required to handle various banking tasks and act as a Single Window Operator.
Some of the duties of a Clerk entail:
- Teller duties: receiving cash, assisting customers to withdraw cash, cheque/cash payments, etc.
- Bank Office Work: Ledger maintenance, receipts collection, data entry, validate customer details, etc.
- Explain banking features to the customers.
The basic salary of an IBPS Clerk is Rs.11765/- to which certain perks and allowances such as Dearness Allowance, Special Allowance, Transport Allowance, etc. are added. The gross salary of an IBPS Clerk comes out to be between Rs.20000/- to 21000/-
