SSC has announced the dates for the SSC CHSL exam of the candidates whose exam was postponed due to lockdown. The SSC CHSL exam will now take place from 17-21 and 24-27 August, 2020.

Note: These exams will be for the candidates whose exam was postponed.

SSC CHSL 2019 Tier 1 Exam Postponed due to Coronavirus outspread. SSC CHSL 2019 Tier 1 Exam for 17, 18 and 19 March 2020 took place and the Exams scheduled from 20 March to 28 March 2020 are being postponed.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination or the CHSL exam for the recruitment to various posts in several different departments, ministries and offices of the government of India. Through the CHSL Examination, the aspiring candidates can apply for the posts of:

  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC) or Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
  • Postal Assistant (PA) or Sorting Assistant (SA)

A SSC CHSL candidate should meet the following eligibility criteria:

A candidate should be

a citizen of India, or

a citizen of Bhutan or Nepal, or

a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with an intention of permanently settling in India, or

a person of Indian origin migrated from either/or Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

 

Age Limit Eligibility

For all posts in SSC CHSL 2019, the age of candidates should be 18-27 years as on 01-01-2020, i.e. candidates born on or after 2 Jan 1993 and before 1 Jan 2002. Important Points to remember regarding the SSC CHSL Tier I Paper:

  • Since a total of one hour is provided for the exam, candidates should divide their time judiciously between the sections.

Important points to remember for the SSC CHSL 2018 Tier II Examination

  • There is no negative marking for this paper. However, the candidate has to attempt the entire paper in one language; using both the languages will result in zero marks being awarded for the examination.
  • The candidate has to obtain a minimum of 33 percent to qualify in the SSC CHSL Tier II Examination.
  • The marks/ percentage obtained would contribute to the final merit.
  • The duration of the exam is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped or suffer from cerebral palsy.

 

SSC CHSL 2018 Tier III Examination Details:

  • The SSC CHSL Tier III Examination or The Skill/Typing Test is conducted based on the post selected applied for by the candidate.
  • SSC CHSL Tier III Examination is of qualifying nature.
  • Skill Test is conducted and mandatory for candidates who have applied for the post of Data Entry Operator.
    • For DEO except for DEO in C&AG: The candidate is expected to make 2000-2200 correct word/ key depressions of the given passage in English in 15 minutes.
    • For DEO in C&AG: The candidate is expected to make 3700-4000 correct word/ key depressions of the given passage in English in 15 minutes.
  • Typing test is conducted for candidates who have applied for the posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)/ Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant.
    • The typing medium can be Hindi or English.
    • The typing speed (in 10 minutes) will be judged basis the medium selected:
      • English: 35 words per minute.
      • Hindi: 30 words per minute

 

SSC CHSL SELECTION PROCEDURE

SSC CHSL Selection Procedure

The SSC CHSL Selection procedure begins once the candidate successfully applies for the examination.

The candidate should obtain the required cut-off as per the category for the Tier I Examination. The candidates who clear the cut off for SSC CHSL Tier 1 are eligible for SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam.

The candidates who clear the Tier 1 + Tier 2 combined cut off with a minimum of 33% in the SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam will be eligible for SSC CHSL Tier 3 exam and Document Verification.

The final selection of the candidates and the allotment of the ministries/departments/offices will be based on the performance in Tier 1 and Tier 2 and as per the post preference of the candidate.
