Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a government organization with a mandate to recruit staff for different posts in the various Departments and Ministries of Government of India. The commission is an autonomous body and works as an attached office of the Department of Personnel and Training. The Commission comprises of Chairman, two members and a Secretary-cum-Controller of Exams. The headquarters of the commission is located in New Delhi. Presently, there are seven regional offices at Allahabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, and Bengaluru with two sub-regional offices at Raipur and Chandigarh.

SSC has released a calendar for SSC Examinations to be conducted from 1st October 2019 to 31st  March 2021.

SSC currently conducts the following competitive exams, some on a regular basis and others based on vacancies.

SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination (SSC CGL)

SSC CGL is a graduate-level exam conducted by SSC for recruitment on various posts under different departments such as Assistant Accounts Officer/Assistant Audit Officer under CAG, Assistant Section Officer under Intelligence Bureau, Assistant Section Officer under Ministry of External Affairs, etc. Every year lakhs of applicants appear for this exam. SSC CGL 2022 is currently going on with the release of SSC CGL Notification on 17 September 2022. In SSC CGL 2022, there has been a major change in the exam pattern and selection procedure, aspirants can check the SSC CGL exam pattern before applying through SSC CGL online application form.

SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam (SSC CHSL)

SSC CHSL is a 10+2 level exam that is conducted every year by SSC for filling up various vacancies like Data Entry Operator, Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant, etc. Read about SSC CHSL Test Series.

SSC Junior Engineer (SSC JE)

SSC conducts an open competitive exam for the selection of candidates to Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted) Junior Engineer (JE) under various departments/organizations. The vacancies for JE are filled up for Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Quantity Surveying & Contracts under various organizations like CWC, MES, CPWD, etc.

SSC Junior Hindi Translator (SSC JHT)

The combined recruitment exam for the post of Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted - Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator, and Hindi Pradhyapak is conducted by SSC based on the vacancies.

SSC GD Constable

SSC organizes an open matriculate level exam for filling up various vacancies for the post of Constable in BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, NIA, etc. and Rifleman in Assam Rifles based on the MoU signed between Ministry of Home Affairs and SSC.

SSC Multitasking (Non-Technical) Staff (SSC MTS)

SSC holds competitive exam for recruitment of Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted Non-Ministerial post, i.e. Multi-Tasking Staff in various Ministries and Departments of Govt. of India.  SSC MTS is a matriculate level examination.

SSC Central Police Organization (SSC CPO)

SSC conducts Computer Based Exam for filling up the vacancies for various posts like Sub-Inspectors in Delhi Police (Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) (Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted) and Assistant Sub-Inspectors in CISF (Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted).

SSC Grade “C” and Grade “D” Stenographers

Grade “C” and Grade “D” Stenographers posts are filled through Computer Based Exam organized by SSC. It is an intermediate level exam for Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted and Group ‘C’ posts.

SSC Selection Posts

SSC also conducts Computer Based Exam for various posts like Senior Technical Assistant, Junior Technical Assistant, Textile Designer, Scientific Assistant, Research Assistant, Non-Technical Inspector, etc. under various departments/ministries/offices of the Govt. of India.
