The 2024 Paris Olympics started on July 26 and ended on August 11.
The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics (also known as the 2024 Summer Olympics) is the 33rd edition of the Olympic Games.
The Phrygian caps were the mascots of Paris 2024.
The flag bearers of the Indian contingent at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024 were shuttler PV Sindhu and table tennis legend Sharath Kamal.
The flag-bearer of the Indian contingent at the Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony were Hockey legend PR Sreejesh and shooter Manu Bhaker.
Apart from this, Olympic bronze medalist Gagan Narang was the Chef de Mission for the Summer Games.

Brief History of Olympics
The first recorded Olympic Games were held in Olympia, Greece, in 776 BC. They were part of a religious festival honoring Zeus, the king of the Greek gods.
In 393 AD, the Roman Emperor Theodosius I banned the Olympic Games for religious reasons, claiming that they encouraged paganism.
The first Olympic Games of the modern era took place in April 1896 in Athens, the same country where the original games were held in ancient times.
In 1900, Paris hosted the second games. Women competed for the first time at the Paris 1900 Olympic Games.
The first female Olympic champion was Charlotte Cooper, a British tennis player who won Wimbledon five times.
The first gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded at the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis, Missouri. This 1904 Olympics also featured George Eyser, the first known disabled athlete to compete in the Olympics. He won six medals in gymnastics, three of them gold.
The Winter Olympics began in 1924 in Paris.
The first Paralympic Games were held alongside the Olympics in 1960 in Rome.
The 1968 Grenoble Olympic Games were broadcast live and in colour on television for the first time.
India's winners at 2024 Paris Olympics
Neeraj Chopra (Silver, Javelin Throw):
- 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, from Panipat, Haryana, continued his stellar performance in javelin throw.
- With a season-best throw of 89.45 meters, Indian track and field star Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal in the men's javelin throw event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
- Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal by breaking the Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 m, while Anderson Peters of Grenada won the bronze medal with a throw of 88.54 m.
- The achievement is a significant milestone, making Neeraj the first Indian track and field athlete since Independence to win two Olympic medals.

- Manu Bhaker created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting competition.
- Indian shooter Manu Bhaker won a bronze in the women's 10-meter air pistol competition.
- She had also won first Olympic medal for India in 2024 Paris Olympics.
- Oh Ye Jin of the Republic of Korea won the gold medal, setting a new Olympic record with a score of 243.2, followed by compatriot Yeji Kim, who took the silver.
- Manu Bhaker had a stellar season in Paris, breaking several records and winning two bronze medals - one in the women's 10m air pistol event and the other in the mixed 10m air pistol with Sarabjot Singh.

- Swapnil Kusale won a bronze medal at 50-metre rifle 3-position shooting with 451.4 points.
- With this feat, Swapnil has created history as the first Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions event.
- China's Y.K. Liu won the gold medal with 463.6 points, while Ukraine's S. Kulish won the silver medal with 461.3 points.
- Swapnil Kusale was born on 6 August 1995 in Kambalwadi village of Kolhapur district, Maharashtra.

Team India (Hockey, Bronze)
Hockey India won bronze medal in Paris Olympics by defeating Spain 2-1 at the Paris Olympics.
The Netherlands secured their third title by winning gold after defeating Germany in the finals and Germany claimed the silver medal.
The Hockey India repeated the history of Tokyo Olympics where the team also won the bronze medal.
This is the first time since 1972 that India has won two consecutive medals.
India won its record 13th medal in hockey at the Olympics.

Aman Sehrawat (Wrestling, Bronze)
Aman Sehrawat won the bronze medal in the men's 57kg free-style category at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Japan's Higuchi Rei clinched the 57kg freestyle wrestling gold medal with a 4-2 victory over Team USA's Spencer Lee (silver medal).
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's Gulomjon Abdullaev also earned a bronze medal with a 5-1 triumph over Bekzat Almaz Uulu of Kyrgyzstan in the other medal bout.
Aman Sehrawat won over Darian Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico with a 13-5 score. He is an Indian wrestler from Haryana.
He was the only Indian male wrestler to qualify for the Paris Games.
He is now youngest Indian to win an individual Olympic medal.
