UPPSC PCS 2023 Eligibility Criteria
The UPPSC eligibility criteria - educational qualification and age limit are given in detail below for UPPCS Exam 2022.
UPPSC PCS Educational Qualifications Required
A. For Posts of Special Qualification through written exam and interview
The candidates applying for the posts included in the Combined State/ Upper Subordinate Services Exam must have a Bachelor's Degree from any recognized University or equivalent qualification on or before 6 April 2023. For some posts, specific qualifications are required as listed below:
Sub Registrar, Assistant Prosecuting Officer (Transport) - Law Graduate
Assistant Labour Commissioner - Post Graduate in Economics / Sociology / Commerce / Law / Labour relation / Labour welfare / Labour Law / Social work / Social welfare / Trade Management / Personnel Management.
Assistant Controller Legal Measurement (Grade-II) - Degree in Science with Physics or Mechanical Engg. as one subject.
District Basik Shiksha Adhikari / Associate DIOS and Other equivalent administrative posts, District Administrative Officer - Post Graduate Degree
District Audit Officer (Revenue Audit) - Commerce Graduate
Assistant Controller Legal Measurement (Grade-I) - Degree in Science with Physics or Mechanical Engg. as one subject.
Chemist - M.Sc in Organic Chemistry and at least three years experience in Chemical analysis of edible products like Honey, Oil Spices, etc. Priority will be given to those with special training in quality control and experience of five years or more in chemical analysis.
Officer on Special Duty (Computer) - Graduation degree in computer Engineering from recognised Government Institute. or 1. First Class Post Graduate Degree in Math and one year Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from a recognised institute. 2.One Year Experience in Computer Work.
Senior Lecturer, DIET - Post Graduate Degree with B.Ed.
District Cane Officer, U.P. Agriculture Service Group "B" (Development Branch) - Agriculture Graduate
Management Officer/ Manager (Estate Department) - (i) A bachelor's degree from a University established by law in India; (ii) Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from an Institution recognized by the Government. Or A bachelor's degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from a University established by law in India.
Labour Enforcement Officer - Bachelor's degree with Economics or Sociology or commerce and Post Graduate Diploma or Post graduate Degree in Law / Labour relation / Labour welfare / Labour Law / Commerce / Sociology / Social work / Social welfare / Trade Management / Personnel Management.
B. Post of Specific Qualification only through written exam
Law Officer - A Candidate for direct recruitment to the post of Law Officer must possess the following qualifications:- (i) Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a University established by law in India. (ii) Registration in the concerned Bar Council or the affiliated Bar Association recognised by the Bar Council of India and two years practice experience certificate issued/Certified by Bar Council/Bar Association.
Technical Assistant (Geology) - Essential Qualification:- (I) A master's degree with at least 50 percent mark’s in Geology or Applied Geology or Diploma in Applied Geology from Indian School of Mines and Applied Geology, Dhanbad. (ii) Preferential :- Research experience or field training conducted by Geological Survey of India.
Technical Assistant (Geophysics) - Post graduate degree with atleast 50 percent marks in Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Geology or applied Geology (with Physics, Mathematics at the B.Sc. level) from a university established by law in India.
Tax Assessment Officer - Bachelor’s degree in commerce or economics with 55% marks.
UPPSC Age Limit 2023
The age criteria for the Combined State/Upper Sub-ordinate Services Examination are as follows:
The candidate of UPPSC Exam 2023 should be aged between 21 years to 40 years of age as of 1 July 2023 i.e. they must not have been born earlier than 2nd July 1983 and later than 1 July 2002.
However, the commission provides some age relaxation to the candidates belonging to various categories as listed below:

To apply for UPPSC PCS 2023 Exam, the candidate must follow the steps given below:
- Go to the commission's website http://uppsc.up.nic.in and click on "All Notifications/Advertisements".
- Here, the candidate will find three parts- User Instructions, View Advertisement and Apply.
- On clicking "Apply", Candidate Registration will be displayed which has to be filled by the candidate.
- After entering basic details, check it and click on the "Submit" button. Print the registration slip by clicking on "Print Registration Slip".
- In the second stage, the fee has to be deposited. A candidate can select any mode of payment- Net Banking/ Card Payments or Other Payments Mode. After making payment, the candidate can take a print of the receipt by clicking on "Print Payment Receipt".
- In the final stage, upload the photo and signature after scanning them. Before submitting, check all the information by clicking on the preview button.
- Click on the submit button and take a print of the application for future reference.

UPPCS Prelims 2023 Exam will be objective in nature while UPPCS Mains 2023 will be descriptive. The UPPSC exam pattern 2023 for UPPCS Prelims and Mains is given below:

Paper-1 and Paper-2 both are objective and Paper-2 will be qualifying in nature. There will be a negative marking of 0.33 for each wrong question. Both papers are conducted on the same day.

UPPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2023
UPPCS Mains Exam is conducted on different days. It is descriptive in nature. Till UPPSC 2023, there were 2 Optional Papers in UPPSC Mains Exam, but from 2023, as per UPPSC Notification 2023, there will be 2 UP GK Papers instead of 2 Optional Papers in the UPPSC Mains Exam Pattern. There are a total of 8 papers. Out of these, one is an Essay paper, another is General Hindi Paper and 4 General Studies papers along with 2 UP GK Papers. 3 hours are allotted for each Mains paper.
