IBPS PO 2019: Exam Pattern and Detailed Selection Procedure

IBPS PO Examination is one of the most important exams conducted in the banking sector, that provides for a promising entry-level job in Public Sector Banks to the candidates, once selected. The Probationary Officer, also known as the Assistant Manager, being the basic level job, vouches for ample opportunities for growth and development. If properly cashed, the IBPS PO Examination can be the golden ticket to a very successful career.
The IBPS PO selection procedure primarily consists of four stages:
- IBPS PO 2019 Preliminary Examination
- IBPS PO 2019 Mains Examination
- Interview
- Provisional Allotment

IBPS PO Exam Pattern:
There are two exams before the IBPS PO Interview stage.
IBPS PO PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION:
The IBPS PO Prelims is an Online Exam, with multiple-choice questions.

Some Important points regarding the IBPS PO 2019 Preliminary Examination:
- Each section has a specific time duration, i.e., there will be separate timing for all three sections. In IBPS PO Prelims, 20 minutes for each of English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability will be given.
- The PWBD candidates will be provided with an additional time of 20 minutes every hour.
- Each correctly answered question fetches +1 mark, and every incorrect answer reduces the overall by 0.25 each, i.e., negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.
IBPS PO 2019 MAINS EXAMINATION:
The IBPS PO Mains examination has five sections out of which four are objective type and one is descriptive type. Details of all the five sections are given below.

Some Important points regarding the online examination:
- There are 155 questions in the paper that need to be solved in the allotted time span, with each section having a different duration.
- The PWBD candidates will be provided with an additional time of 20 minutes every hour.
- Each correctly answered question fetches one (1) mark and every incorrect answer reduces the overall by 0.25 each, i.e., negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.
IBPS PO 2019 INTERVIEW
The candidates who clear the IBPS PO 2019 Mains Cut off (sectional as well as overall) decided by IBPS, would then have to undergo a round of Interview, which is conducted by the Participating Banks and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State or Union Territory with the help of IBPS.
The candidates have to obtain at least 40% to be eligible for Provisional Allotment. The final allotment is done on the basis of the final score obtained by the candidate by combining the score of the IBPS PO Mains Examination and Interview in the ratio of 80:20.
IBPS PO 2019 PROVISIONAL ALLOTMENT
Once the candidate has scored the minimum cut-off for the final score and has high merit overall, s/he is allotted to one of the 17 Participating Banks depending on the preference as well as the vacancies.
IBPS PO 2019 SELECTION PROCEDURE
The IBPS PO Selection Procedure begins with the Online Registration. The registration process for IBPS PO 2019 will begin on 07th August 2019 and will end on 28th August 2019. Once, the candidate is successfully registered after the online payment, he/she is eligible for the IBPS PO 2019 Preliminary Examination.
