The Flag Code of India, 2002, took effect from 26 January 2002. Earlier, Flag Code-India existed, but with the adoption of Flag code of India in 2002, Flag Code-India was suspended.
Flag Code of India is divided into three parts:
Part 1 – General Description of the National Flag
Part 2 – Hoisting, display and use of the National Flag by the members of the public, private organizations, educational institutions, etc.
Part 3 – Hoisting and display of National Flag by Central or State Governments and their organizations and agencies.
In Part 1 of the Flag Code of India, It is clearly mentioned that the national flag should be rectangular in shape. The ratio of length to height (width) should be 3:2.
