There are five people P, Q, R, S, and T sitting in a row facing northwards but not necessarily in the same order. Q sits third to the left of T, there is only one person sitting between P and R, P and T cannot sit on any of the extreme ends. From the left end at which number R is sitting?

   A. 3rd

   B. 4th

   C. 5th

   D. 2nd

Solution:

From the information ‘Q sits third to the left of T’ and ‘P and T cannot sit on any extreme ends’ we can deduce the following case

Now,

 

From the information ‘there is only one person sitting between P and R’ and ‘P and T cannot sit on any of the extreme ends’ we can deduce

 

Therefore,

From the left end i.e. from ‘Q’, ‘R’ is on the 5th position.

Hence, C is the correct answer.
