UP PCS Prelims 2019 Paper Analysis and UP PCS Cut off PRELIMS 2019
2019-12-16 | Team PendulumEdu
UP PCS Prelims 2019 exam was conducted on December 15, 2019, in two shifts having GS-I and GS-II as the subjects in Paper-I and Paper-II respectively. The exam was conducted for a total vacancy of 364 which includes Upper Subordinate Service, ACF /RFO posts.
The paper I contained 150 questions having a total of 200 marks. There was a negative marking of 1/3 for each wrong answer. Overall the paper was moderate. It was having a little changed pattern from the 2018 prelims exam as this time around 20-25 questions were analytical/ conceptual based on UPSC pattern. There were more assertions and reasoning questions. One of the questions from assertion and reasoning was from the Economic survey 2018-19 based on the UPSC pattern. Also, none of the questions was based on U.P G.K making it more competitive. Some of the culture-based and medieval history questions were difficult, so it would be better to leave them unattempted unless one knows the sure answer. However, modern history questions were not deeply factual like previous years' papers but chronology still had weight. Economics questions were conceptual with only one question from ranking. Previous years' papers also played an important role as some questions were repeated however, their ratio was less this time. Only 2-3 questions were taken from the sports section. The most important fact to be noted was that some questions were based on the current affairs of previous years ranging up to 2015.
