UPSC Prelims 2019 Answer Key and Analysis
2019-06-04 | Team PendulumEdu
On 2nd June 2019, UPSC conducted Civil Services Preliminary Examination. Paper-I is related to general studies topics like current events of national and international importance, history of India, geography of India and the world, Indian national movement, General Science, Economic and Social Development, Indian Constitution and Governance, Biodiversity and Environment, etc. Paper –II consists of questions from various sections like Reading Comprehension, Logical reasoning and Analytical ability, Decision making and Problem-solving, General mental ability, Basic numeracy and Data Interpretation (up to class X level), etc.
The cutoff depends on paper I as paper II is qualifying in nature where one needs to get 33% of the maximum marks. Like it is said, in UPSC U stands for its unpredictability, this year also the paper came out to be unpredictable. The maximum questions were from current affairs concerning environment and ecology, science and technology, economics, etc. and that too from the topics which were in news for past 2-3 years for instance, there were questions on Cas9, black holes, agriculture productivity, depreciation of Indian rupee, issue of NPAs resolution, VoLTE, Ease of Doing Business, conflicts regarding post of Governor, Indian Patents Act, Office of Profit, burning of crop residue, etc. The questions from history especially from Art and Culture and Medieval were a bit difficult to answer as students generally leave that portion due to less number of questions being asked in the past.
Paper- II consisted of maximum questions from reading comprehension, Logical Reasoning and Analytical ability, Basic Numeracy, etc.
The detailed topic-wise analysis of number of questions asked in Civil Services 2019 paper –I can be seen here.
