PM presents Yoga awards- Find out the list of winners!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave away the PM’s Award for Outstanding Contribution for Promotion and Development of Yoga on 30th August 2019. The awards were announced during the International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2019 in Ranchi. The list of the winners of the Yoga award is as follows:




Swami Rajarshi Muni of Life Mission, Gujarat



Ms. Antonietta Rozzi, Italy



Bihar School of Yoga, Munger, Bihar


Japan Yoga Niketan, Japan





Shri Vishwas Mandalik, Nasik



The Yoga Institute, Mumbai



The winners were selected from the list of 79 nominees for 2019 and 186 nominees for 2018 award under different categories. The winners were awarded a Trophy, Certificate and a Cash Award of Rs. 25 lakhs each. The Yoga award was announced for the first time during 2nd International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2016 in Chandigarh.

PM also issued 12 commemorative postal stamps to honour the great scholars and practitioners of AYUSH Systems. He also launched 10 AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres in Haryana, which is in accordance with AYUSH Ministry’s mission to provide functional 12,500 AWHCs in next 3 years. These Health and Wellness Centres have been integrated under the component of Ayushman Bharat Scheme. These centres will help in integrating and mainstreaming of holistic, preventive, curative and palliative AYUSH care to achieve the aim of National Health Policy, 2017 for comprehensive health care.

PM Modi is focusing on promoting a healthy lifestyle, and it was due to his collaborative efforts that Yoga has been recognized internationally as one of the best practices to remain healthy.

On the National Sports Day, he launched “Fit India Movement" to create awareness among the people and make it a people’s movement to remain fit and healthy. The campaign focus on encouraging people to integrate sports and physical activity in their day to day life. He said that fitness is not just a word but an essential pillar to a healthy and prosperous life.

He quoted- “Swasth vyakti, swasth parivar aur swasth samaj, yahi naye Bharat ko shresth Bharat banane ka raasta hai.” i.e., A healthy Individual, a healthy family, and a healthy society are the essentials to make New India a Fit India.
