Question of The Day15-11-2021

Two sheet of Paper with measure 11 cm and 154 cm are taken. Each sheet is rolled in to a cylinder, one with height of 11 cm and other of height 154 cm. What is the difference in their volume (in cm3)?

Answer

Correct Answer : a ) 19,269.25

Explanation :

According to the question

Length and breadth of the sheet are 154 cm and 11 cm respectively

Case I

When Sheet is rolled along its Length

Height of the Cylinder become 11 cm

Circumference of base of cylinder = 154 cm

⇒2πr=154

⇒2*\(22 \over 7\)*r=154

⇒ r = 24.5 cm

We know that

Volume of Cylinder = πr2h

\(22 \over 7\)*24.5*24.5*11

⇒ Volume = 20,751.5 cm3

Case II

When the sheet is rolled along its breadth

Height of the cylinder = 154 cm

Circumference of base = 11cm

⇒ 2πr = 11cm

⇒2*\(22 \over 7\)*r=11

⇒r=1.75 cm

Volume of cylinder = πr2h

\(22 \over 7\)*1.75*1.75*154

⇒ 1482.25 cm3

Difference in volume = 20,751.5 - 1482.25

⇒ 19,269.25 cm3

Hence, (a) is the correct answer.
