Xuanzang also known as Hiuen Tsang was a 7th-century Chinese Buddhist monk, scholar, traveler and translator. Hiuen Tsang was born on April 6th in AD 602 in Chenhe Village, Goushi Town to Chen Hui.

He is known for his contributions to Chinese Buddhism. He brought around 657 Indian texts to China and translated some of them. At the age of 27, he started his 17 year journey to India. 

He traveled to India in 629–645 CE during King Harshavardhana’s reign. He visited Nalanda Monastery and studied with monk, Silabhadra.
