Going towards his office, Raju starts walking in the left direction from his house, which is south facing. He walks 10 km and then takes a left turn and then walks for another 5 km. After reaching the place, he turns 135⁰ clockwise and enters his office. What is the displacement between Raju’s house and his office and in which direction Raju’s office is facing?

Correct Answer : d ) \(5\sqrt{5}\) km and North- West facing

Explanation :

Depicting the given information in the figure we get,

In the triangle HAO

Using Pythagoras theorem,

HO² = HA² + OA²

HO =\( \sqrt{100+25}\)

HO =\(5\sqrt{5} \) km

Thus, shortest distance between Home and office is \(5\sqrt{5} \) km and the office North-West facing.

Hence, (d) is the correct answer.
