Directions: Read the instructions carefully and answer the question accordingly

In an apartment, there are nine members i.e. Amit, Brij, Dhruv, Joey, Esha, Mona, Mukta, Etisha and Rudra live on different floors of a nine storey-society but not necessarily in the same order. The lowermost floor of the building is numbered 1 and the topmost floor of the building is numbered 9.

Dhruv lives immediately below the floor on which Rudra lives. Mukta lives below Joey. There are same number of floors between Brij and Mukta, and Brij and Joey. Esha lives immediately above Amit. There are two floors between the floor on which Joey and Etisha lives. Joey lives on an odd numbered floor but below 7th floor. There are 3 floors between the floor on which Mona and Dhruv live. Rudra lives on either top floor or bottom floor.

Explanation :

Let us analyse the information one by one and solve the puzzle accordingly

Information: Dhruv lives immediately below the floor on which Rudra lives. Rudra lives on either top floor or bottom floor.

From the above information we can say that Rudra lives on 9^th floor while Dhruv is on 8th floor.

Thus, depicting the given scenario

Information: Mukta lives below Joey. Joey lives on an odd numbered floor but below 7^th floor. There are two floors between the floor on which Joey and Etisha lives.

From, the above information there can be three possible scenarios:

Case 1: Joey living on 5^th floor

In this case Etisha will be living on floor number 2.

Case 2: Joey living on 3^rd floor

In this case Etisha will be living on floor number 6.

Case 3: Joey living on 1^st floor

In this case there is no place for Mukta to live so case 3 fails here.

Now, depicting the possible scenarios we get

Information: There are same number of floors between Brij and Mukta, and Brij and Joey. Mukta lives below Joey.

Considering case 1:

There can be two possibilities:

Case 1(a): Brij living on floor number 4

In this case Mukta will be living on floor number 3 and Esha and Amit living on floor number 7 and 6 respectively.

Case 1(b): Brij living on floor number 3

In this case Mukta will be living on floor number 1 and Esha and Amit living on floor number 7 and 6 respectively.

Considering case 2:

In this case Brij and Mukta will be living on floor number 2 and 1 respectively and Esha and Amit living on floor number 7 and 6 respectively.

Now, depicting all the possible scenarios we get,

Information: There are 3 floors between the floor on which Mona and Dhruv live.

From the above information we can say that there is no place for Mona in case 1(a) and case (2). Thus, case 1(a) and case (2) fails.

Therefore, the final arrangement will be

Now, from the above table we can say that all the persons in the given options are living on even numbered floors except (b) i.e. Esha as she is living on floor no. 7.

Hence, (b) is the correct answer.
