Ravi and Teja participate in a race that is going to be held on a circular track. The speed of Ravi is 18 km/hr and that of Teja is 9 km/hr. If the length of the circular track is 200 m, then in 4 minutes, how many times will they meet each other?

Explanation :We know,
Distance=speed×time
⇒Time taken by Ravi to cover 1 round of 200m track=\(200\over5\)=40 sec
Similarly,
⇒Time taken by Teja to cover 1 round of 200m track=\(200 \over 2.5\)=80 sec
Now, time taken by both of them to meet each other for 1st time = LCM (40, 80) = 80 seconds
We can say that, after every 80 seconds Ravi and Teja will meet each other.
Thus, in a time span of 4 minutes, i.e., 240 seconds Ravi and Teja will meet each other
⇒\(240 \over 80\)=3 times
Hence, (a) is the correct answer.
