Red Blood cells are made in the bone marrow and Spleen and Liver (in case of embryo). They generally live for 120 days. RBCs contain a protein called hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is responsible for carrying oxygen.

Erythropoiesis is the process through which new RBCs are produced. The process lasts for about 7 days.

Bone marrow is the soft, spongy tissue that contains many blood vessels and is found in the center of most bones.

Yellow bone marrow is made mostly of fat and contains stem cells that can become cartilage, fat, or bone cells.
