Indian women’s cricket team wins T20 Women's Asia Cup 2022

India defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets to win the 7th Asia Cup. Sri Lanka was first to bat and scored 65 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs while India scored 71 runs for 2 wickets in 8.3 overs. For the first time in 14 years, Sri Lanka reached the finals of the Asia Cup.
Deepti Sharma has been named the “Player of the Tournament” for her brilliant all-round performance.
The most runs were scored by Jemimah Rodrigues from India (217) while Deepti Sharma took the most wickets from India (13) and Inoka Ranaweera from Sri Lanka (13).

Women’s Asia Cup Winners and Host
Women’s T20 and One Day International Asia Cup are administered by the Asian Cricket Council. The women’s Asia Cup was first held in 2004 in the ODI format on Colombo and Kandy in Sri Lanka. It is a biennial tournament. After ICC ruled that all matches played in the Women’s Asia Cup has ODI or T20I status, the Women’s Asia cup was played in T20 format for the first time in 2012.
In 2012, China, Hong Kong, Nepal and Thailand were the debutant teams. In 2022, UAE was the debutant team in the tournament.
The 2020 Women’s Asia Cup was scheduled to be held in Bangladesh but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
