Explanation: Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga Project was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi. The project aims to provide piped cooking gas to the people of Varanasi and later on, to the other neighbouring states like Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, etc. The total length of the pipeline under the project is around 3,384 km. The project will promote the use of clean fuel, thereby reducing the health burden of the State.

Under this project, Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) is executing Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline of length 2,655 km and Barauni-Guwahati Pipeline of length 729 km for connecting Eastern India. Currently, the pipeline is commissioned up to Barauni (Bihar).
