Options:

A. 9.99

B. 10

C. 9.9

D. 11

Solution:

Let the cost price of combined flour be Rs. X per kg

If the seller sold it on the actual price without obtaining any gain then,

Price of combined flour will be = X

Price of 5kg wheat = 5 * 12 = Rs. 60

Price of 15kg barley = 15 * 8 = Rs. 120

According to question, 5 kg of wheat is mixed with 15 kg of barley to make combined flour

So,

5 * 12 + 15 * 8 = (5 + 15) * X

$$X=\frac{180}{20}$$

X = Rs. 9 per kg

Price of combined flour if the seller wants to sell it at 10% profit

Selling price of combined flour = 9 + 10% of 9 = 9 + 0.9 = Rs. 9.9 per kg

Hence, c is the correct answer.
