In indirect speech,
- Simple Past tense (was planning) changes to Past perfect (had been planning).

- First person pronoun (my) changes to ‘his’ as per the subject i.e. ‘Shyam’.

- Complement (out of sheer disinterest) takes no change.
The indirect form is- ‘Shyam said that he had been planning to quit his job out of sheer disinterest.’
