A cuboidal tank is of length 12 m and breadth 8 m, if water is flowing from the pipe at the rate of 30m3/sec then find the level of water raised (in m) in the tank in 10 minutes.

Explanation :

According to the question

Let the height of water increased after 10 min = x m

Rate of flow of water = 30m3/sec

Volume of water filled in 10 minutes

⇒ 30 * 10 * 60 m3

We know that

Volume of cuboid = L * B * H

Where L, B and H are the length, breadth and height of the cuboid respectively.

Substituting the values

⇒ Volume = 12 * 8 * x

⇒ 12 * 8 * x  = 30 * 10 * 60

⇒ x = 187.5 m

Hence, (a) is the correct answer.
