A monkey is trying to climb an oily pole of 45 m. In one jump he climbs 3 m but due to lack of friction he slips by 1m. In how many steps he can reach at the top of tower?
Answer
Correct Answer : b ) 22
Explanation :According to the question
A monkey climbs 3 m and slips 1m,
So, in 1 jump monkey can climb effectively = 2m
Length of the tower = 45m
Subtract the last jump of the monkey from the length of tower, = 45 – 3 = 42
Total jump needed by monkey to reach 42 m =\(42 \over 2\)=21 jumps
In last jump he reaches at the top, so total jump to climb = 21 + 1 = 22
Hence, (b) is the correct answer.
