If train A travels at 100 km/hr stopping for 6 minutes after every 75 km. How much percentage of time train A will waste in stopping in order to travel 1500 km?
Answer
Correct Answer : b ) \(12 {2 \over 3}\)%
Explanation :We know that
\(speed= {distance \over time}\)
According to the question,
Train A travels 1500 km with a speed of 100 Km/hr
So, time taken to travel this distance will be
\( {1500 \over 100}=15\) hr
But, the train stops after every 75 km.
Number of times train will cover 75 km while travelling 1500 km
\(={1500 \over 75}=20\) times
But as the train will not stop for the 20th time as the train has already reached the destination by that time, so stopping will be done 19 times.
Also, stopping is done for 6 minutes each time
Thus, total stopping time will be 19 x 6 = 114 minutes
Therefore,
Percentage of time train A will waste in stopping will be
\( {114 \over 15{ * }{60}}*100\)
=\(12 {2 \over 3}\)%
Hence, (b) is the correct answer.
