Answer

Correct Answer : d ) Arunachal Pradesh

Explanation :

Papum Reserve Forest is located in Arunachal Pradesh. It is an Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas. It lies to the east of the Pakke Tiger Reserve.

The reserve forest is covered by Tropical Wet Evergreen forests, sub-tropical broadleaf hill forests and tropical semi-evergreen forests.

This reserve forest is a nesting habitat of three species of Hornbill- Great Wreathed and Oriental Pied.

Hornbills are known as ‘forest engineers’ or ‘farmers of the forest’ as they play a major role in the dispersion of seeds of tropical trees.

Recently a study based on satellite data has highlighted a high rate of deforestation in Papum Reserve Forest.

NOTE: Reserved Forests differ from Protected Forests as in the former rights to activities like hunting, grazing, etc. are banned.

Hence, (d) is the correct answer.

Questions related to the location of protected areas are generally asked in various government exams like UPSC CSE, State PCS, SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, RRB NTPC, IBPS PO, UP SI, etc.
