1. PM Modi inaugurated several development projects of more than nine thousand crore rupees in Aizawl, Mizoram.

  • These inaugurated projects cover sectors such as Railways, Roads, Energy, and Sports.
  • One major project is the Bairabi-Sairang railway link, the first railway link in Mizoram.
  • This railway line has been build at a cost of over eight thousand crore rupees.
  • The railway line includes 45 tunnels built in complex geological conditions.
  • There are also 55 major bridges and 88 minor bridges along the route.
  • The Rajdhani Express will connect Aizawl directly to Delhi.
  • Mizoram will have better rail links with Assam through the Sairang-Guwahati Express.
  • The Sairang-Kolkata Express will provide direct rail access to Kolkata.
  • Modi also laid foundation stone of multiple road projects, including the Aizawl Bypass Road, Thenzawl-Sialsuk Road, and Khankawn-Rongura Road.
  • The 45-kilometre Aizawl Bypass Road is valued at over 500 crore rupees.
  • The bypass will improve connectivity to Lunglei, Siaha, Lawngtlai, Lengpui Airport, and the Sairang railway station.
  • The Prime Minister laid the foundation for the Chhimtuipui River Bridge on the Lawngtlai-Siaha Road.
  • This bridge will provide all-season connectivity. It will cut travel time by two hours.
  • The bridge will also support cross-border trade through the Kaladan Multimodal Transit project.
  • Modi inaugurated the Khelo India Multipurpose Indoor Hall to boost sports development.
  • He laid the foundation for an LPG bottling plant at Mualkhang in Aizawl.
  • The plant will have a capacity of 30,000 metric tons per year.
  • The Residential School at Kawrthah, under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram scheme, was also inaugurated.

2. Hindi Diwas 2025: 14 September

  • Every year, Hindi Diwas is observed on 14 September.
  • On 14 September 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi in Devanagari script as the official language of Indian union (Article 343).
  • Since 1953, it was announced to celebrate 14 September every year as Hindi Diwas throughout the country.
  • The day also marks the birthday of Beohar Rajendra Simha. He was born on 14 September 1900.
  • He played a crucial role in getting Hindi in the Devanagari script approved as an official language of India.
  • Hindi is one of the most spoken languages and is spoken by 600 million people globally.
  • World Hindi Day is celebrated every year on 10 January.

3. ₹6,500-crore development projects in Assam unveiled by PM Modi.

  • On 14 September, development works worth about ₹6,500 crore were launched, and foundation stones were laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Darrang, Assam.
  • Assam’s rapid progress with a growth rate of nearly 13% was credited to the joint efforts of the people, the Union government, and the state government.
  • These included the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, along with a nursing college and a general nursing and midwifery school.
  • They also comprised the 2.9-km Narengi-Kuruwa bridge and the 118.5-km Guwahati Ring Road connecting Kamrup and Darrang districts in Assam and Ri-Bhoi district in Meghalaya.
  • The Prime Minister emphasized that the next chapter of India’s development belongs to the East and Northeast, which had lagged after Independence.
  • He said that strong infrastructure in road, rail, air, and digital connectivity has boosted tourism, created jobs, and made life easier.
  • GST reforms with reduced rates on cement, cancer medicines, and insurance premiums were declared, along with tax relief on vehicles.
  • The number of medical colleges in India has doubled in the last 11 years—equal to the total number of medical colleges built in the 60-65 years after independence.
  • Assam had only six medical colleges before 2014, and with the completion of Darang Medical College, the state will now have 24 medical colleges.
  • He said the central government is preparing to launch a mission to foil the conspiracy to change the demography of the country's border areas with the help of infiltrators.
  • After the 2023 delimitation, the Mangaldoi Lok Sabha constituency was renamed Darrang-Udalguri.
  • It had been at the center of the anti-infiltration Assam Movement from 1979 to 1985, which established the “Bangladeshi issue” as a key plank during elections.

4. The ‘National Agriculture Conference – Rabi Campaign 2025’ began in New Delhi.

  • On 15 September 2025, a two-day National Agriculture Conference—Rabi Abhiyan 2025—began at Pusa Campus, New Delhi.
  • The conference is being chaired by Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
  • State Agriculture Ministers, senior officials, scientists, and policy makers from across the country are participating in it.
  • Preparations, production targets, and strategies for the Rabi sowing season 2025–26 will be discussed.
  • For the first time, the Rabi Conference is being organized for two days under the direction of the Union Agriculture Minister.
  • On the first day, deliberations between central and state-level officials will take place, while the second day will focus on discussions with Agriculture Ministers and Union Ministers of State.
  • Special emphasis will be placed on effective delivery of improved seeds and the latest technologies to farmers.
  • For the first time, scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras have also been invited to share their field experiences and challenges and help plan future strategies.
  • Best practices from different states will be showcased along with expert insights on weather forecasting, fertilizer management, and agricultural research.
  • The conference is expected to guide action plans for Rabi 2025–26, boost farmers’ income, promote sustainable agriculture, and strengthen national food security.

5. The 5th edition of the Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) will be hosted by India in Chennai in 2027.

  • The event will coincide with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
  • The decision to hold the summit in Chennai was taken unanimously at the 4th CGGS in Rome on 11–12 September.
  • Delegates from 115 countries and international organisations had participated in the Rome summit.
  • The Chennai summit will feature an International Coast Guard Fleet Review and a World Coast Guard Seminar.
  • The platform is expected to focus on maritime challenges and enhance global cooperation.
  • Director General of ICG Paramesh Sivamani, during the ceremonial handover in Rome, emphasised that maritime threats cannot be addressed by any single nation.
  • It was highlighted that the Chennai meet will strengthen interoperability, trust, and collaboration among global Coast Guards.
  • The Italian Coast Guard was lauded for hosting the Rome summit, while appreciation was expressed for the Japan Coast Guard’s role as CGGS Secretariat.
  • During the event, Sivamani held discussions with the Commandant of the Italian Coast Guard under the framework of the India-Italy Joint Strategic Action Plan (2025-2029).
  • Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in maritime security, environmental protection, crime prevention, and capacity building.

7. India’s first bamboo-based bio-ethanol plant inaugurated by PM Modi in Golaghat district of Assam.

  • PM Modi said the project is a major step toward achieving energy self-sufficiency.
  • He said it would help reduce India’s dependence on imported fuels.
  • The plant will use bamboo to produce bio-ethanol.
  • This promotes clean energy and supports local raw materials.
  • The Prime Minister noted that India is among the world’s top five countries in solar power capacity.
  • He also laid the foundation stone for a polypropylene unit at the refinery site.
  • Earlier in the day, he visited Darrang district and launched the construction of a new medical college.

8. Over ₹17,500 crore development projects inaugurated by PM Modi in Manipur and Mizoram.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched major development projects during his visit to Manipur.
  • He announced initiatives worth over ₹7,300 crore in Churachandpur.
  • He also inaugurated projects worth more than ₹1,200 crore in Imphal.
  • In Churachandpur, he addressed a public gathering.

9. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the second national conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) heads in New Delhi on 16 September.

  • The conference will bring together top Anti-Narcotics Task Force officials from all 36 States and Union Territories.
  • Representatives from various central government departments will also attend the conference.
  • During the conference, Amit Shah will release the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Annual Report for 2024.
  • He will also launch a new digital platform for the disposal of seized drugs.
  • The conference will be held over two days, on the 16th and 17th of September.
  • The aim is to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission for a drug-free India.
  • This year’s theme of the conference is “United Resolve, Shared Responsibility.”
  • The Narcotics Control Bureau is organising the conference.
  • The conference will provide a platform for coordinated national action against drug trafficking and abuse.
  • Participants will assess the progress made by different agencies in fighting the drug problem.
  • They will also discuss a forward-looking strategy to enhance anti-narcotics operations.
  • The discussions will also focus on the national security risks posed by narcotics.
  • Improving coordination among enforcement agencies will be another major focus.
  • In 2021, Amit Shah directed all States and Union Territories to establish dedicated Anti-Narcotics Task Forces.
  • The first national ANTF conference was held in April 2023.

10. Defence Procurement Manual (DPM) 2025 has been approved by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

  • The manual aims to modernize and simplify the revenue procurement processes of the Ministry of Defence.
  • It is designed to align procurement with the needs of modern warfare and speed up decision-making.
  • The focus is on achieving self-reliance in supplying the Armed Forces under the Revenue Head for Operations and Sustenance.
  • The manual promotes better coordination among the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
  • This coordination will help maintain high military readiness through faster approvals.
  • It guarantees timely access to essential resources at reasonable costs.
  • DPM 2025 encourages participation from private firms, MSMEs, start-ups, and established Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs).
  • This manual replaces the 2009 version. The manual governs revenue procurement worth around ₹1 lakh crore for the current financial year.
  • The revision includes the latest technology to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in procurement.
  • A new section promotes innovation and indigenization.
  • This will be done through collaboration with industries, research institutions, and academic bodies like IITs and IISc.
  • The manual relaxes rules for newcomers in the defence sector, especially for development contracts.
  • Liquidated damages (LD) will not be charged during prototype development.
  • After development, LD will be minimal at 0.1%. The maximum LD is capped at 5%, rising to 10% only for major delays.
  • Suppliers may receive guaranteed quantity-based orders for up to five years.
  • Competent Financial Authorities (CFAs) at lower levels have been given more decision-making power.
  • CFAs can also postpone bid opening dates to encourage more participation.
  • They do this without needing prior approval from Financial Advisors.
  • A 15% growth margin in work scope is allowed upfront for aircraft and naval vessel maintenance.
  • Limited Tendering is permitted for specialized items up to ₹50 lakh.
  • For amounts beyond that, Limited Tendering is allowed only in exceptional cases.
  • Tenders will be awarded solely based on competitive bidding.
