1. The Ministry of Jal Shakti will organize the Jal Mahotsav across the country from March 8 to 22.

  • Ashok K.K. Meena, Secretary, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, announced the festival while speaking at the fourth edition of the multilingual Sujal Gram Samvad in New Delhi.
  • The festival will focus on formally handing over water supply assets to gram panchayats.
  • This will be done through Jal Arpan Diwas. This initiative will also strengthen water quality testing and monitoring systems.
  • Ensuring safe drinking water through community participation is a key goal.
  • Officials have appealed for active public participation in the Jal Mahotsav.

2. The National Roundtable Conference of the Election Commission of India and State Election Commissioners concluded in New Delhi.

  • It states that transparent and fair elections strengthen democratic institutions.
  • The Commission proposed to work with all State Election Commissioners to develop mutually agreed frameworks.
  • These frameworks will be legally sound and support cooperation in the election process.
  • This cooperation includes sharing ECINET, EVMs, electoral rolls, and infrastructure within IIIDEM.
  • The ECI and State Election Commissions aim to align Panchayat and Municipal election laws with those for Parliamentary and State Legislative elections.
  • The ECI invited SECs to participate in international engagements with the Commission.
  • It recommended holding a National Round Table Conference every year.
  • This conference could be held alongside an international conference chaired by the ECI.
  • All recommendations from the SECs will be reviewed by a joint team of legal and technical officers.
  • A state- and UT-specific action plan will be submitted to the ECI within three months to help it make decisions in the best interest of the country.
  • Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar emphasized the importance of a pure electoral roll.

  • The award was conferred by Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana following the Prime Minister’s address to the Israeli Parliament.
  • PM Modi is the first leader to receive this prestigious medal from the Knesset.
  • The recognition reflects the elevation of India–Israel ties to a Strategic Partnership during his visit to Israel in July 2017.
  • This marks his second visit of PM Modi to Israel in nine years, underlining the sustained engagement between the two countries.
  • The Prime Minister is among the rare global leaders to have received top honours from both Israel and Palestine.

4. Next-Generation ‘Rail Parcel App’ launched by South Central Railway.

  • The next-generation ‘Rail Parcel App’ was launched by South Central Railway at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad as a major digital initiative.

7. Listed private non-financial companies reported a 10.1% year-on-year increase in sales in the third quarter of 2025-26.

  • This marked a return to double-digit growth. The sector had recorded single-digit growth in the previous eleven quarters.
  • The Reserve Bank of India stated that this improvement was primarily due to strong manufacturing performance.
  • These results are based on the abbreviated quarterly results of 3,188 listed non-government, non-financial firms.
  • Sales of 1,794 listed manufacturing companies increased by 11.4% in this quarter.
  • This was higher than the 8.5% growth recorded in the previous quarter.
  • Automobile, electrical machinery, and non-ferrous metal industries led manufacturing growth.
  • Sales growth of information technology companies improved to 8.8%.
  • Non-IT service companies recorded stable sales growth of 10.6%.
  • Manufacturing companies' operating profit increased by 11.8%. This growth was supported by a modest rise in other operating expenses.
  • IT companies' operating profit growth increased to 11.1%.
  • In contrast, non-IT service companies' operating profit growth slowed to 4.0% in the same quarter.

8. The Indian Navy concluded MILAN 2026 with a formal closing ceremony.

  • The event took place onboard INS Vikrant, off the coast of Visakhapatnam.
  • Rear Admiral Alok Anand led the closing ceremony. The exercise took place in the Bay of Bengal.
  • MILAN 2026 was organized under the theme of "Camaraderie, Cooperation, Collaboration."
  • The focus of the drills was to strengthen maritime partnerships.
  • A total of 42 ships and submarines took part in the exercise. Twenty-nine aircraft also participated.
  • Eighteen ships were provided by friendly countries.
  • This made it one of the largest editions of the MILAN exercise.
