2. Anahat Singh won the first World Junior squash medal for India in 15 years.

  • In the quarterfinal, she defeated Egypt’s Malika Elkaraksy 3-0 to assure herself of the bronze medal.
  • She was the only Indian among the eight semi-finalists and is currently ranked 54th in the world.
  • Anahat is the reigning U19 Asian girls' champion and a multi-time PSA Challenger title holder.

3. Amit Shah called for the use of a national database to deal with internal threats.

  • Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the 8th National Security Strategies Conference held in New Delhi.

  • He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong resolve and citizens' support had sent a global message of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
  • Mr. Shah stated that India’s growing global presence would bring newer national security challenges.
  • The next 5–10 years were described as crucial for both national development and security.
  • It was urged by the Home Minister that databases like NATGRID, NIDAAN, iMoT, and the CBI’s fugitive list be incorporated into officer training programs.
  • Each state police force and central agency was directed to aim for excellence in handling security issues.

4. Jammu got its first direct unlocking system at Dinanagar station.

  • On 27 July, Indian captain Shubman Gill scored a century on Day 5 of the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford.

  • The achievement surpassed the records of Warwick Armstrong, Don Bradman, Greg Chappell, Virat Kohli, and Steven Smith, who had three each.

6. Iran launched the Nahid-2 satellite with Russia amid strengthening space ties.

  • On 25 July, Iran’s Nahid-2 communications satellite was launched aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket from Vostochny Cosmodrome.
  • It was part of a multi-payload mission that included Russia's Unisphere-M3 and M4 satellites as well as 18 other satellites from various countries.
  • Nahid-2 is designed to remain in orbit for five years and is equipped with an indigenous propulsion system.
  • Typically, satellites have a lifetime of five years at low altitudes (LEO) and 10 years at higher altitudes (GEO).
  • It is capable of adjusting its altitude up to 50 kilometers, which is crucial for maintaining its orbital position and operational stability.
  • Nahid-2 is equipped with solar panels to meet its power requirements.
  • The satellite was developed by Iran’s Space Research Institute for telecom missions.
  • Previously, Soyuz has launched other Iranian satellites, including Khayyam, Pars-1, Kosar, and Hodhod.

7. The 14th edition of the India-Singapore military exercise ‘Bold Kurukshetra 2025’ has started in Jodhpur on 27 July 2025.

10. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth over ₹4,800 crore in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

  • Three railway projects were dedicated.

  • A ₹550 crore transmission project linked to Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant had its foundation stone laid.
  • The 400 kV transmission system will evacuate 2000 MW of power and strengthen the grid.
  • Tamil Nadu has received over ₹3 lakh crore in central funds in the past decade.
