- The grand finale was held at HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana on 31 May.
- Thailand's Opal Suchata became first Miss World from her country and created history.
- Opal Suchata Chuangsri received the title from outgoing Miss World 2024, Krystyna Pyszkova of Czech Republic.
- In the 72nd edition of global pageant, 108 contestants from around the world competed for the crown.
- The event was hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar.
- Hasset Dereje of Ethiopia was first runner-up. Poland's Maja Klajda was second runner-up.

2. World Milk Day 2025: 1 June
- World Milk Day is celebrated every year on 1 June all over the world.
- It is observed to mark the contributions of the milk and dairy sector.
- World Milk Day was established by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in 2001.
- The theme for World Milk Day 2025 is: “Let’s Celebrate the Power of Dairy.”
- Milk is a rich source of calcium, potassium, and vitamin D. Its consumption strengthens bones and lowers the risks of heart diseases.
- Dr Verghese Kurein is known as the "Father of the White Revolution" in India.
- India has been number one in milk production since 1998. It now produces 25% of the world's milk.
- While global milk production is growing at a rate of 2% every year, per capita milk availability in India has increased by 48% in the last ten years.

3. BharatGen - India's first multimodal AI-based LLM for Indian languages launched.
- On 2 June, ‘Bharat Gen’, India’s first indigenously developed government-funded AI-based Multimodal Large Language Model (LLM) for Indian languages, launched by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh.
- The launch was carried out at the "BharatGen Summit", which is recognised as India’s largest Generative AI and LLM summit and hackathon.
- BharatGen has been developed under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) and implemented through the TIH Foundation for IoT and IoE at IIT Bombay.
- It is aimed at transforming AI development by embracing the linguistic and cultural diversity of India.
- The model integrates text, image, and speech modalities, and is designed to serve 22 Indian languages with ethical and inclusive AI tools.
- Dr. Jitendra Singh described BharatGen as central to PM Modi’s vision of "India’s Techade," aiming to promote digital inclusion and innovation.
- The platform is expected to strengthen sectors like education, healthcare, governance, and agriculture through region-specific AI solutions.
- The launch of the Generative AI Hackathon 2025 was a major step towards engaging student innovators to solve real-world problems through AI.
- The Bharat Gen initiative is being implemented through a network of 25 Technology Innovation Hubs (TIHs), four of which have been upgraded to Technology Translational Research Parks (TTRPs).
- The four pillars of the mission include technology development, entrepreneurship, human resource development and international collaboration.

4. India's first AI Special Economic Zone announced in Nava Raipur.
- To strengthen India's position as a global technology hub, the nation’s first Special Economic Zone dedicated to artificial intelligence is being proposed in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
- The ₹1,000 crore project will be undertaken by RackBank Datacenters Pvt. Ltd., an Indore-based firm known for its carbon-neutral data centers.
- The Chhattisgarh government confirmed that the AI SEZ will offer state-of-the-art infrastructure for AI development, research, and large-scale deployment.
- The 6-acre facility will include a 150,000-square-foot center equipped to power advanced AI servers and data-intensive operations.
- Four high-density data centers with a combined 80 MW capacity are planned to support pan-India digital infrastructure needs.
- Global tech giants, including Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Meta, are expected to begin operations within the upcoming AI SEZ.
- Tax exemptions and regulatory relaxations are being provided under the SEZ framework to enable innovation and global collaboration.
- The AI SEZ aims to generate jobs and offer world-class opportunities to youth from districts like Dantewada, Kanker, and Bilaspur.
- India has already approved 423 SEZs, of which 270 are operational across diverse sectors like IT, pharma, and engineering.
- The SEZ policy, introduced in 2005, continues to attract foreign investments, create employment, and enhance India’s global tech stature.

5. Rajiv Memani took charge as the new CII President for FY 2025-26.
- Rajiv Memani, Chairman and CEO of EY India, has assumed office as the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the year 2025–26.
- His appointment was announced by CII, as he took over the position from Sanjiv Puri, Chairman and MD of ITC Ltd.
- Mr. Memani is a member of the EY Global Executive Board and serves as Chair of its Growth Markets Council.
- Additionally, R. Mukundan, MD and CEO of Tata Chemicals, has been named CII President-Designate for 2025-26.
- Mr. Mukundan has been with the Tata Group since 1990 and holds academic credentials from IIT Roorkee, FMS Delhi, and Harvard Business School.
- Apart from these, Suchitra K. Ella, co-founder and MD of Bharat Biotech, has been appointed as Vice President of CII for FY 2025–26.
- She co-founded Bharat Biotech in 1996 and played a pivotal role in the company’s vaccine innovations, including Covaxin.

6. Heinrich Klaasen and Glenn Maxwell announced their retirement from International Cricket.
- South African batter Heinrich Klaasen has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket with immediate effect.
- Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell has retired from One Day Internationals to focus on T20 cricket and the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
- Klaasen had earlier stepped down from Test cricket in January 2023 and has now also left ODI and T20I formats.
- During his career, Klaasen played 4 Tests, 60 ODIs, and 58 T20Is, amassing a total of 2764 runs for South Africa.
- His retirement is being seen as a major blow for South Africa ahead of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, which the country will co-host.
- Maxwell, on the other hand, has played 149 ODIs, including two ICC World Cup wins, and is regarded as one of Australia's most influential limited-overs players.
- His iconic knock of 201* against Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup was widely hailed as one of the greatest innings in ODI history.
- Maxwell ended his ODI career with a strike rate of 126, the second-highest ever, along with four centuries, 23 fifties, and 77 wickets.

7. A review meeting of the world's largest cooperative food grain storage scheme was held in New Delhi.
- Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah chaired the meeting.
- Minister of State for Cooperation Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar and Shri Murlidhar Mohol were present in the meeting.
- The meeting was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Cooperation, Food and Public Distribution, Consumer Affairs, Food Corporation of India (FCI), NABARD, National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and other institutions.
- Amit Shah said called the world's largest food grain storage scheme a big step towards PM Modi's vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi”.
- He said that food storage scheme is meant to strengthen both Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employment generation.
- The food storage scheme aims to raise the income of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). It also aims to create rural employment opportunities.
- Union Minister of Cooperation said that it is necessary to make PACS an integral part of this scheme.
- In the meeting, it was also decided that States should involve more PACS at their level in the scheme.
- FCI, the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation (NCCF), the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED), and State Warehousing Corporations were instructed to integrate PACS with as many warehouses as possible to maximize their involvement.
- About world's largest cooperative food grain storage scheme:
- World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in Cooperative Sector was approved by government on 31 May 2023 to be rolled out as a Pilot Project.
- The Plan involves creation of various agri infrastructure at Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) level through convergence of various existing schemes of the Government of India, such as, Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure Scheme (AMI), etc.

8. A bilateral meeting held between Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal and Terada Yoshimichi in Oslo, Norway.
- Terada Yoshimichi is Japan’s Vice Minister for International Affairs, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport & Tourism.
- The discussions held during meeting were aimed at improving stronger maritime relations between India and Japan.
- Key areas of discussions were shipbuilding, port digitization, green port initiatives, maritime training, and the transformation of India’s Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands into Smart Islands.
- Opportunities for Japanese investment in Indian shipyards were explored by the Ministers.
- The focus was on focus on collaborations involving leading Japanese companies like Imabari Shipbuilding, JMUC, Kanagawa Dockyard, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
- India’s interest in joint ventures with these firms, particularly for greenfield projects like Imabari Shipbuilding’s initiative in Andhra Pradesh was highlighted by Sonowal.
- Japan’s maritime giants like NYK Line, MOL, and K Line, were invited to explore investment opportunities in India’s maritime sector.
- India’s ambitious National Maritime Heritage Museum (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat, was also discussed by Ministers. Sonowal invited Japan to partner in this project.
- He invited Vice Minister Terada for the India Maritime Week 2025.
- India Maritime Week 2025 is to be held in Mumbai from October 27-31, 2025.
- India aims to scale new heights with a target of five trillion yen (3.2 lakh crore rupees) in investments with Japan by 2027.
- India-Japan Relations:
- India and Japan share ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’.
- A separate Peace Treaty with Japan on 28 April 1952 marked the beginning of India-Japan diplomatic relations.
- India-Japan relations were elevated to ‘Global Partnership’ in 2000, ‘Strategic and Global Partnership’ in 2006, and ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’ in 2014.
- India-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership (CEPA) came into effect from 1 August 2011.

9. World Champion Dommaraju Gukesh won over former World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen in ongoing Norway Chess 2025 tournament.
- Dommaraju Gukesh won in Round 6 of the ongoing Norway Chess 2025 tournament.
- This is Gukesh’s first-ever classical win over the Norwegian grandmaster.
- Gukesh is also the 2nd Indian player to win over Carlsen in the history of the competition after Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa.
- This win helped D Gukesh move to third spot in the Norway Chess 2025 points table with 8.5 points.
- D Gukesh is just one point behind Carlsen and American Fabiano Caruana.
- On May 27, Round One at Norway Chess 2025 marked Carlsen’s return to individual classical chess after about a year.
- This was their first classical match since Gukesh won the world title.
- Norway Chess is an annual closed chess tournament. It takes place in the May to June time period every year.
