1. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been awarded 2025 World Leader for Peace and Security Award.

  • He has been honoured by the Boston Global Forum (BGF) and the AI World Society (AIWS).
  • He has been honoured for his contributions to huanitarian service, reconciliation and peace-building.
  • World Leader for Peace and Security Award was started in 2015.
  • It honours world leaders who promote moral courage, ei=thical governance and compassion in global affairs.
  • Shinzo Abe, Angela Merkel, Ban Ki-moon, Sauli Niinisto, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron are past recipients of this award.
  • The award recognises Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's mediation and peace initiatives in regions facing conflicts such as Colombia, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Venezuela and Kashmir.
  • The Art of Living Foundation is a volunteer-based, educational NGO founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

2. An MoU signed between TEC and IIT Bombay for joint research in advanced telecom technologies and standardization.

  • An MoU was signed between the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) and IIT Bombay to collaborate on joint research and technical contributions in telecom technologies.
  • The partnership aims to develop India-specific standards and testing infrastructure while exploring future network technologies like 6G, AI, NGN, and VoIP.
  • It also seeks to enhance India's participation in ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication Standardisation Sector) study groups.
  • The MoU was signed on 7 November 2025 in the presence of senior officials from TEC and IIT Bombay.
  • The collaboration will focus on developing India-specific standards and test frameworks for future communication networks.
  • Key research areas include 6G, Core Network, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Satellite Communication Systems, Signalling Requirements and Protocols.

3. COP30 is being inaugurated in Belém with a focus on the Paris Agreement and adaptation measures.

  • On 10 November, the 30th UN Climate Change Conference, known as COP30, is being held in Belém, Brazil.
  • This conference will be held from 10 to 21 November 2025.
  • The summit is being viewed as a potential turning point for the Global South.
  • Emphasis is being placed on implementing the Paris Agreement, climate finance, and adaptation strategies.
  • This COP marks the first time that the complete Paris Agreement policy cycle is being put into action.
  • India will showcase its progress in clean energy, having achieved the 50% non-fossil electricity capacity goal ahead of its target.
  • India will also push for practical and measurable adaptation indicators during the discussions.
  • Brazil, as the host, has urged participating nations to shift the approach from negotiation to concrete delivery.
  • The Tropical Forests Forever Facility has been launched at the summit to encourage and reward long-term forest conservation.
  • India has joined this new forest conservation initiative as an observer.
  • Scientists have warned that the global temperature limit of 1.5°C is likely to be temporarily crossed, adding greater urgency to climate action efforts.

4. The first full-scale air show in Guwahati organised by the Indian Air Force.

  • On 9 November, the Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force organised the first-ever full-scale air show in Guwahati.
  • The event has been conducted to mark the 93rd anniversary of the Indian Air Force.
  • More than 75 aircraft and helicopters have been displayed in over 25 aerial formations.
  • The show has taken place at Lachit Ghat above the Brahmaputra River.
  • The theme for this year’s celebration is "Infallible, Impervious and Precise", reflecting capability and precision.
  • Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh attended the event.
  • The air show, organised for the first time in the Northeast region, enthralled the spectators on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra river.
  • Aircraft including Rafale, Sukhoi, Apache, MiG, IL-78 refueller, Mirage, Jaguar, C-17, C-130 Hercules, AN-32, and the Surya Kiran team took part.
  • These aircraft were operated from seven air bases, including Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat, Chabua, Hasimara, Bagdogra, and Panagarh.
  • A tribute was paid to Assam’s singer Zubeen Garg with the playing of his song “Mayabini Ratir Bukut”.
  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 93rd anniversary with a ceremonial parade at Air Force Station Hindon on October 8, 2025.
  • The traditional flypast and air display were scheduled to take place in Guwahati on November 9.

5. A bill to prohibit polygamy has been approved by the Assam Cabinet.

  • On 9 November, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the State Cabinet has approved a bill to ban polygamy.
  • The bill is titled “The Assam Prohibition of Polygamy Bill, 2025”.
  • It will be presented in the State Assembly on November 25.
  • Conviction under this bill may lead to rigorous imprisonment of up to seven years.
  • The Bill aims to prohibit any person from entering a second marriage if their first spouse is alive, if they are not legally separated, or if the first marriage has not been dissolved by a court decree.
  • Polygamy has been classified as a cognisable offence under the Bill, making the accused ineligible for immediate bail.
  • The state government has stated that the legislation has been framed to prevent harmful marital practices and ensure lawful and fair family relationships.
  • The Bill will not apply to members of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) population and will not be enforced immediately in Assam’s six Scheduled Areas.
  • Exemptions will also apply to minority Muslim residents living in the Scheduled Areas before 2005, considering historical customs and community practices.
  • The government has decided to set up a fund for providing compensation to victims of polygamy.
  • The financial support will ensure victims do not face hardship in continuing their lives.
  • The Chief Minister stated that preventing exploitation of women is one of the primary aims of this bill.

6. The first individual pistol shooting medal at the ISSF World Championships won by India’s Anish Bhanwala.

  • On 9 November, Anish Bhanwala created history by winning the silver medal in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event at the ISSF World Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
  • This achievement makes him the first Indian individual pistol shooter to win a World Championships medal in an Olympic event.
  • He shot 28 out of 40 in the final, finishing behind French shooter Clement Bessaguet, who won the gold medal in the shooting event with 31 points.
  • Olympian Maksym Horodynets of Ukraine took the bronze medal with 25 points.
  • The medal increases India’s tally at the Cairo championships to five medals, including one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.
  • Anish Bhanwala is 23 years old and hails from Sonipat in Haryana.
  • India has sent a 40-member team to Cairo for the ongoing World Championship.
  • The ISSF World Championship 2025 is being organised by ISSF – International Shooting Sport Federation from November 6 to 18, 2025.

7. Uttarakhand’s Silver Jubilee celebrations attended and development projects worth over ₹8,000 crore in Dehradun launched by PM Modi.

  • The launched projects cover several key sectors like water supply, irrigation, power, education, urban development, sports, and skill enhancement.
  • Over ₹62 crore in form of crop insurance aid was directly transferred to the bank accounts of over 28,000 farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
  • A special commemorative postage stamp marking Uttarakhand’s 25th Foundation Day was unveiled by PM Modi.
  • In his address, PM Modi said the Uttarakhand has achieved remarkable growth over the past 25 years.
  • Before the ceremony, Modi toured an exhibition, met with representatives from different sectors and interacted with participants who showcased their work and achievements.
  • Uttarakhand was formed on 9 November 2000. It is bordered by Himachal Pradesh to the northwest, China to the north, Nepal to the east and Uttar Pradesh to the south.
  • Dehradun is state capital. Gurmit Singh is its current governor. Pushkar Singh Dhami is its current Chief Minister.

8. Indian Naval Ship INS Sahyadri is currently at Guam in the North Pacific.

  • It is taking part in the multinational maritime Exercise Malabar-2025.
  • INS Sahyadri is a stealth-guided missile frigate built indigenously in India and shows India’s advanced naval design and engineering capabilities.
  • During the Harbour Phase of Malabar-2025, planned activities include planning sessions, communication coordination, and friendly sports events.
  • After the harbour phase, the participating warships and aircraft will move to the Sea Phase, which will involve intensive naval drills.
  • Exercise Malabar a multinational naval exercise. It involves India, the United States, Japan, and Australia.
  • It started as a bilateral exercise in 1992 between India and U.S. Japan was included in 2015 and Australia was included in 2020.

9. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel RRU National K9 Bravery Award-2025 has been awarded to BSF’s tracker dog Babita.

  • BSF’s tracker dog Babita was honoured for her exemplary service and bravery.
  • The award was presented during a national ceremony held in Hyderabad.
  • Babita also received a medal and a commendation certificate. She is stationed in the Amritsar Sector of Punjab.
  • In September 2025, she played a major role in a crucial anti-smuggling operation.
  • Using her sharp tracking skills, Babita guided BSF personnel to a suspicious residence. This led to the capture of three smugglers.

10. India achieved 10-9 victory over world No. 1 Argentina in the 2025 KogniVera International Polo Cup final.

  • The match was held at the Jaipur Polo Ground. The win marked a historic milestone for Indian polo.
  • The Indian team was led by Sawai Padmanabh Singh and Captain Simran Singh Shergill.
  • India has a long and proud polo tradition. However, the sport still faces challenges like limited infrastructure, high expenses, and lack of sponsorship.
  • This victory celebrates India’s rich polo heritage. It also creates new opportunities for young players.
  • Simran Shergill, Shamsheer Ali, Padmanabh Singh, and Siddhant Sharma represented Team India at 2025 KogniVera International Polo Cup.
