1. The pellet plant in Rewari, Haryana has been inaugurated by Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi.

  • He also laid the foundation stone for the K2 Bio-Ethanol plant in Rewari, Haryana.
  • The inaugurated pellet plant has the capacity to produce 240 tonnes of pellets per day from stubble
  • This is expected to improve air quality and support India’s E20 and Net Zero 2070 goals.
  • Under new policy, all thermal plants are required to co-fire biomass and municipal solid waste to save the environment.
  • The minister said that crop residue is now creating profit for farmers through pellet use in power plants.
  • The new plant will use paddy straw, mustard straw and cotton stalks to make biomass pellets for thermal power co-firing.
  • Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated fabrication and central facilities at IIT Bombay under the National Quantum Mission.
  • He said that India is among the first countries to adopt a national-level quantum mission.
  • Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jayant Chaudhary inaugurated the Skill India Centre in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The centre aims to boost skill development opportunities in the region.

2. Constitution Day 2025: 26 November

  • Every year on 26 November, Constitution Day or Samvidhan Divas is celebrated in India.
  • It is celebrated to commemorate the Constituent Assembly's adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949.
  • This year marks 76 years since the adoption of the Constitution in the world's largest democracy.
  • India's Constitution is the longest-written constitution of any sovereign country in the world.
  • The Constituent Assembly of India enacted the Indian Constitution on November 26, 1949, and it came into effect on January 26, 1950.
  • Before 2015, this day was celebrated as Law Day.
  • On November 19, 2015, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment announced the Government of India's plan to commemorate the 26 November each year as "Constitution Day" in order to promote constitutional principles among citizens.
  • Dr. B R Ambedkar, widely known as the Father of the Indian Constitution, was a well-known social reformer, politician, and jurist.
  • On August 29, 1947, he was assigned as the chairman of the constitution drafting committee.

3. Teams for Junior Hockey World Cup arrived in India ahead of the tournament.

  • Japan, Chile, Spain, and Austria arrived in India on 24 and 25 November to participate in the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup.
  • The tournament will be held in Tamil Nadu from November 28 to December 10.
  • Japan arrived in Chennai on 24 November and will compete in Pool C with Argentina, China and New Zealand.
  • Chile landed in Chennai, placed in Pool B with India, Oman and Switzerland, and will begin their campaign on 28 November against the host team.
  • Spain, bronze medallists in 2005 and 2023, are grouped alongside Belgium, Egypt and Namibia and will play their match against Egypt on November 28.
  • Austria, making only their second Junior World Cup appearance after debuting in 2016, has been placed in Pool E with England, Malaysia and the Netherlands.

4. Justice Vikram Nath nominated as the New Executive Chairman of NALSA.

  • Justice Vikram Nath was officially nominated as the Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) following a notification issued by the Union Law Ministry.
  • Justice Vikram Nath has been nominated by the President of India.
  • This nomination has been made under clause (b) of sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
  • It was confirmed that his appointment came into effect from 24 November 2025, succeeding Justice Surya Kant.
  • Justice Surya Kant vacated the position after being sworn in as the 53rd Chief Justice of India by President Droupadi Murmu.
  • CJI Kant has begun his 14-month tenure, succeeding Justice Bhushan R. Gavai, who retired upon reaching the age of 65.
  • NALSA, established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, plays a critical role in ensuring access to justice for marginalised and underprivileged groups.
  • Its mandate is derived from Article 39A of the Constitution, which directs the State to promote equal access to justice and provide free legal aid.
  • Article 39A emphasises that no citizen should be denied justice due to economic or other disabilities.

5. INS Vikrant arrived at Colombo Port for International Fleet Review 2025.

  • On 26 November, the Indian Navy’s indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant was arrived at the Port of Colombo in response to an invitation from the Sri Lanka Navy.
  • It was confirmed that the warship will participate in the International Fleet Review 2025, a major event hosted as part of Sri Lanka’s 75th Navy anniversary.
  • The harbour witnessed a large gathering of children, locals and members of the Indian diaspora who came to welcome the towering warship.
  • Commissioned in 2022, INS Vikrant represents India’s first fully indigenous aircraft carrier and marks a major achievement for the Indian Navy.
  • The visit highlights the longstanding naval cooperation between India and Sri Lanka, reinforcing mutual trust and goodwill.
  • Sri Lanka’s fleet review is expected to bring together naval forces from multiple countries, showcasing the nation’s expanding maritime engagement.
  • The presence of INS Vikrant serves as both a diplomatic gesture and a demonstration of India’s operational capabilities in the Indian Ocean region.

6. Tax breaks and social measures proposed by Lithuania to raise national birth rate.

  • A proposal was presented by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda outlining tax breaks and welfare measures aimed at raising the country’s birth rate to 1.5 children per woman.
  • It was stated that Lithuania’s current birth rate stands at 1.18, prompting concerns over a sharp demographic decline.
  • The President’s Chief Advisor described the goal as ambitious but essential for long-term social stability.
  • It was proposed that families with two or more children would be exempt from income tax for five years following the birth of each additional child.
  • Further considerations include creating a social insurance base for young families to support pregnancy and maternity leave.
  • Reimbursement of a portion of tuition costs after childbirth is also being examined as a potential incentive.
  • Access to rent-to-buy housing schemes through expanded municipal housing programmes in regional areas is being studied as well.
  • The president notes a steady decline in the birth rate, with a sharp drop after 2022.
  • The International Monetary Fund reported in October that Lithuania is facing increasing demographic pressure due to a low birth rate and years of negative migration.
  • Between 1998 and 2019, the working-age population declined from 2.34 million to 1.81 million, though it is projected to increase to 1.89 million in 2024.
  • The European Union's total fertility rate is projected to fall to 1.38 in 2023, down from 1.46 last year and well below the replacement level of 2.1.
  • Malta had the bloc's lowest rate at 1.06, followed by Spain at 1.12. Lithuania's rate was 1.18.

7. PM Modi inaugurated the ‘Panchjanya’ monument in Kurukshetra.

  • Panchjanya is a monument constructed in honour of the conch of Lord Krishna in Kurukshetra, Haryana.
  • Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini accompanied him.
  • After the inauguration, he then visited the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra.
  • Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra is an experiential centre, which showcases installations depicting key episodes from the Mahabharata.
  • PM Modi also took part in a programme marking the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru.
  • He released a special commemorative coin and commemorative postage stamp dedicated to the Guru Tegh Bahadur.
  • Government of India is observing the year-long comemoration.
  • He performed ‘darshan and pooja’ at Brahma Sarovar. It is one of  India’s most sacred pilgrimage sites.
  • Brahma Sarovari, a lake in Haryana, is believed to be associated with the divine revelation of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
  • International Gita Mahotsav is being organised in Kurukshetra from November 15 to December 5.
  • Before arriving in Kurukshetra, PM Modi hoisted the saffron flag in Ayodhya.
  • The flag was raised atop the 191-foot ‘shikhar’ of the completed Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.

8. India’s first AI Film Festival and Cinema AI Hackathon launched at the 56th IFFI in Goa.

  • The launch was done by the  WAVES Film Bazaar and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), in partnership with LTIMindtree.
  • The festival received 68 submissions from 18 different countries.
  • It received award-winning film packages from five international AI film festivals—Adobe Max and AI Film3 (USA), Burano AI Film Festival (Italy), Metamorph AI Film Awards (UK), and Omni Film Festival (Australia).
  • The films were also submitted by 14 individual filmmakers from across the world.
  • From all entries, 27 films were chosen for the Competition section.
  • Four films were selected for the Non-Competition showcase.
  • Selections of films were based on their artistic merit, technical innovation and narrative experimentation.
  • The winners were announced at the WAVES Film Bazaar closing ceremony.
  • The Craft Master Award– Best AI Short Film was won by Nagori from France. It was chosen for its emotional and narrative strength.
  • The Craft Vanguard Award– Most Innovative Use of AI / Experimental Narrative was awarded to Germany’s The Cinema That Never Was. It was chosen for its experimental use of AI.
  • The Craft Spectra Award– Best AI Animation / Visual Design was won by U.S. film Kyra for its visual design and animation quality.
  • Two films earned Jury Special Mentions for showing strong promise in AI-assisted filmmaking.
  • These are The Last Backup Final Part in English and Miracle on Kachua Beach in Hindi.

9. India concluded its Deaflympics shooting campaign in Tokyo with a record number of 16 medals.

  • India won 16 out of the total 39 medals during 10 days of competition.
  • These 16 medals include seven gold, six silver and three bronze.
  • Mahit Sandhu was the top performer with four medals. Mahit earned two gold and two silver.
  • Mahit was followed by Pistol shooters Abhinav Deshwal and Pranjali Prashant Dhumal. 
  • Abhinav Deshwal and Pranjali Prashant Dhumal each won two gold medals and one silver medal.
  • Dhanush Srikanth won two gold medals in the 10m air rifle individual and mixed team events.
  • Mohammed Murtaza Vania won one silver and one bronze medals.
  • Komal Milind Waghmare won two bronze medals.
  • Anuya Prasad earned gold in the women’s 10m air pistol competition.
  • Shourya Saini got a silver medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions event.
  • Kushagra Singh Rajawat earned bronze medal in the 50m rifle prone category.
  • At the last Games at Caxias do Sul in Brazil, Indian shooters earned five medals, which included three gold and two bronze.

10. Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years and three months in prison.

  • He was found guilty of plotting a military coup and seeking to overthrow Brazil’s democratic system.
  • Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ruled the ruling is final. No further appeals are possible.
  • Bolsonaro will serve his sentence in a federal police jail in capital, Brasília.
  • The court found that he tried to hold on to power by force after losing the 2022 election.
  • As per the sentence, his crimes include leading a coup attempt.
  • He also attempted to violently dismantle Brazil’s democracy.
  • Co-conspirators, including General Augusto Heleno and former defense minister General Paulo Sérgio Nogueira de Oliveira, were also found guilty by the Court.
  • Bolsonaro was elected president in 2018. He served as the 38th president of Brazil from 2019 to 2022. He lost 2022 general election to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
  • Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is incumbent President of Brazil since 1 January 2023.
