1. Government has extimated India's total food grain production of Kharif crops at 173.33 million tonnes in this financial year.

  • The first advanced estimates of production of Kharif crops have been released by Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
  • The production of rice is estimated to be more than 124 million tonnes as per the first advance estimates for 2025-26.
  • This estimate of rice is 1.73 million tonnes more than Kharif season rice production of last year.
  • It is estimated that total Kharif coarse cereals production stands at 41.41 million tonnes.
  • Kharif pulses production is projected to be at 7.41 million tonnes.
  • Among pulses, production of tur, urad and moong is estimated at around 3.60 million tonnes, 1.20 million tonnes and 1.72 million tonnes, respectively.
  • Sugarcane production and cotton production are estimated at 475 million tonnes and at over 29 million tonnes.

2. A bust of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar unveiled at UNESCO Headquarters on Constitution Day.

  • The unveiling of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s bust at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris was hailed by PM Narendra Modi as a matter of immense pride.
  • The PM also said that this event is a true tribute to the chief architect of the Indian Constitution on Constitution Day.
  • The bronze bust, sculpted by Naresh Kumawat, was inaugurated by Ambassador Vishal V. Sharma in the presence of UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.
  • With this installation, Dr. Ambedkar became the first Indian leader after Mahatma Gandhi to have a statue in UNESCO’s Garden of Peace.
  • UNESCO noted that the installation aligns with its commitment to equality, human rights and combating caste-based discrimination.
  • Ambassador Sharma highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s lifelong advocacy for justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.
  • The ceremony added to the series of international tributes, including installations at the UN headquarters, British Parliament and Columbia University.
  • The Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCO organised the unveiling on the occasion of Samvidhan Diwas on 26 November.
  • Constitution Day has been observed annually since 2015, marking the adoption of India’s Constitution— the world’s longest written governing document.
  • The Constitution of India, adopted in 1949 and in force since 26 January 1950, describes India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic.

3. Cyclone Ditwaha is approaching the east coast of India.

  • On 27 November, Cyclone Ditwah has been reported by India Meteorological Department (IMD) to have formed in the southwest Bay of Bengal.
  • The cyclone is being tracked as it moves towards Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry.
  • Heavy rainfall is predicted to affect the eastern coast until December 1.
  • Strong winds and thunderstorms are expected across southern states.
  • Continuous rains have been observed in southern districts of Tamil Nadu in the past week, including Ramanathapuram.
  • Extremely heavy rainfall has been forecast for Delta districts, Ramanathapuram, and the Gulf of Mannar over the next 48 hours.
  • Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, and Ranipet districts are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rain.
  • Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea due to squally winds.
  • Local warning Signal Number 4 has been hoisted at Pamban, Thoothukudi, Nagapattinam, and Karaikal ports.
  • Surplus water has been released from canals as a precaution, and authorities have been asked to take immediate remedial action if necessary.

4. The 44th India International Trade Fair concluded with an award ceremony.

  • On 27 November, the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) was concluded with an Award Presentation Ceremony at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
  • Over 18 lakh visitors attended the 14-day fair, and broad participation from diverse sectors was recorded under the theme “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”.

5. Supreme Court urged the Centre to consider stricter law against derogatory remarks on disabled.

  • The Supreme Court has asked the Centre to consider framing stringent legislation against derogatory remarks on disabled persons.
  • Protection of dignity for persons with disabilities has been emphasised.
  • On November 27, the Supreme Court asked the Centre to consider enacting a law, similar to the SC-ST Act, to make derogatory remarks mocking people with disabilities and rare genetic diseases a punishable offence.
  • A bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said that a neutral, independent and autonomous body is needed to regulate obscene, objectionable or illegal content on online platforms.
  • Existing guidelines are currently being prepared by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
  • Solicitor General Tushar Mehta stated that humour cannot compromise someone’s dignity.
  • The court was hearing a petition filed by SMA Cure Foundation highlighting derogatory jokes by Samay Raina and other social media influencers.
  • Comedians Samay Raina, Vipun Goyal, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar, and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar were directed to exercise caution in future.
  • The bench requested that two monthly programmes or shows be conducted to highlight success stories of persons with disabilities.
  • Fundraising for treatment of persons with Spinal Muscular Atrophy has been suggested through these shows.

6. An MoU signed between C-DOT and IIT Roorkee to establish Centre of Excellence.

  • An MoU has been signed between Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and IIT Roorkee to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE).
  • The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) is a premier R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India.
  • As part of the MoU, C-DOT is setting up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at IIT Roorkee.
  • The CoE will accelerate indigenous research, innovation, and capacity-building in advanced communication technologies.
  • Research will focus on wireless communication, quantum technologies, cybersecurity, and AI applications.
  • Joint research and prototype development in 5G/6G, V2X communication, RF-Sub-THz ICs, and millimeter-wave antennas will be undertaken.    
  • The CoE will promote academia–industry collaboration leveraging IITR expertise and C-DOT’s industrial strength.
  • Students, researchers, and start-ups will be enabled to contribute to India’s innovation journey.
  • The CoE will serve as a hub for high-impact R&D, IP development, and skill building.
  • Workshops, training programs, and joint engagements will facilitate continuous knowledge exchange.

7. Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025 hosted by Indian Army.

  • On 27 November, Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025 (CDD) has been inaugurated at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi.
  • President Droupadi Murmu graced the inaugural session.
  • Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi delivered the keynote address outlining India’s security challenges.
  • Organized by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Centre for Land Warfare Studies, this dialogue focuses on the national vision of Sashakt, Surakshit and Viksit Bharat.
  • The Indian Army’s comprehensive transformation roadmap, including HOP 2032 for accelerated transition, STEP 2037 for consolidation and JUMP 2047 for an integrated, next-generation force design, has been presented.
  • The President emphasized that new domains such as cyber, space and cognitive warfare require forces that are technologically agile and future-ready.
  • 75% of capital procurement budget is now allocated to domestic industry to promote indigenisation and innovation.
  • Domestic production and exports in defence are increasing rapidly.
  • CDD 2025 aims to provide a platform for strategic deliberation on India’s future security architecture.
  • India’s journey towards a strong, secure, and developed nation is being reinforced through moral clarity, technological excellence, and self-reliance.

8. Indian Coast Guard hosted maiden Shipbuilding, Indigenisation & IT Conference.

  • On 27 November, the Indian Coast Guard hosted the maiden Shipbuilding, Indigenisation & IT Conference in Madikeri, Karnataka.
  • This is a significant achievement in strengthening the maritime capabilities of the country.
  • A MoU was signed between the Indian Coast Guard and the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association and the Defence Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre.
  • This partnership seeks to strengthen the defence innovation eco-system and accelerate indigenisation efforts through the Defence Innovation Hub in Coimbatore.
  • DG ICG Paramesh Sivamani highlighted the importance of self-reliance in shipbuilding.
  • He also highlighted the successful progress of the 200th indigenously built vessel (4th Pollution Control Ship), which is currently undergoing sea trials.
  • Project Digital Coast Guard has been presented as a secure, scalable digital backbone for all units.
  • During the conference, three documents were released: the teaser of the e-book ‘History of Shipbuilding in the Indian Coast Guard’, the Roadmap for Artificial Intelligence in ICG, and the ICG Cyber Crisis Management Plan-2025.
  • Each reinforces the organization's commitment to technological advancements, digital capability-building, and future-readiness.

9. Government approved Tex-RAMPS Scheme to boost textiles sector.

  • The Textiles Focused Research, Assessment, Monitoring, Planning and Start-up (Tex-RAMPS) Scheme has been approved by the Government of India to strengthen research, innovation, and competitiveness in textiles.
  • The scheme, with a total outlay of Rs 305 crore for the period from FY 2025-26 to FY 2030-31, will end with the next Finance Commission cycle
  • The scheme will be implemented as a Central Sector Scheme, fully funded by the Ministry of Textiles.
  • Advanced research in smart textiles, sustainability, and emerging technologies will be promoted.
  • Data systems, analytics, and diagnostics will be strengthened to facilitate policymaking.
  • The Integrated Textiles Statistical System (ITSS) will support real-time monitoring and strategic decisions.
  • Capacity-building workshops and sectoral events will improve state-level planning and knowledge dissemination.
  • Support for incubators, hackathons, and academia-industry collaboration will nurture start-ups.
  • Employment generation and enhanced competitiveness in global markets are expected outcomes.

10. PM Modi inaugurated Safran Aircraft Engine Services India Facility in Hyderabad.

  • The Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) facility in Hyderabad, Telangana, has been inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi.
  • The facility will serve as a Global Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) hub for LEAP (Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion) engines.
  • The establishment of the SAESI marks a significant milestone, as it is one of the largest global आईएमडी aircraft engine MRO facilities.
  • It also represents the first time a global engine OEM (original equipment manufacturer) has set up an MRO operation in India.
  • The facility has been developed at a cost of over ₹1,300 crore and spans 45,000 square meters.
  • It is designed to service up to 300 LEAP engines annually.
  • Upon reaching full operational capacity by 2035, this state-of-the-art facility will employ over a thousand highly-skilled Indian technicians and engineers.
  • LEAP engines power Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
  • The foundation stone for the M88 Military Engine MRO was also laid during the event.
  • The facility will support the Indian Air Force and Navy and enhance sector self-reliance.
