1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced initiatives of over ₹62,000 crore.

  • At the event, the Prime Minister launched the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM–SETU) scheme.
  • This initiative aims to modernize and upgrade Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country.
  • The Prime Minister called ITIs not just training centers but also vital to achieving Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

3. Rajasthan's first 'Namo Biodiversity Park' inaugurated in Alwar.

  • The park, also known as ‘Namo Van’, has been envisioned as a vital green lung for the Alwar region.
  • A symbolic tree plantation ceremony was organized during the inauguration event.

5. The world’s highest motorable road at Mig La Pass in eastern Ladakh has been constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

  • The Likaru–Mig La–Fukche road provides a crucial third axis between Hanle and Fukche, improving military access.

6. The Indian Navy commissioned INS Androth on 6 October.

  • The commissioning ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam under Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar’s leadership.
  • INS Androth has been constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.
  • The ship has been built with more than 80% indigenous content, supporting the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
  • It has been designed to strengthen India’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities in littoral waters.
  • The vessel will enhance coastal defense and protect India’s maritime interests against underwater threats.
  • The commissioning of INS Androth follows earlier inductions like INS Arnala, Nistar, Udaygiri, and Nilgiri.

7. ICGS Akshar was officially commissioned into the Indian Coast Guard at Karaikal, Puducherry.

  • ICGS Akshar is the second vessel in the Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessel series.
  • The ship was designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
  • It features over 60% indigenous components. The vessel reflects India’s commitment to self-reliance in defense production.
  • It also supports the government's Make in India initiative.
  • The commissioning ceremony was led by Dipti Mohil Chawla, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Defence.
  • Additional Director General Donny Michael, Commander of the Eastern Seaboard, also attended the event.
  • ICGS Akshar is 51 metres long and displaces approximately 320 tons.
  • It is powered by two 3,000 KW diesel engines.
  • The ship can reach speeds of up to 27 knots. It has an operational range of 1,500 nautical miles.
  • Indigenously developed Controllable Pitch Propellers and gearboxes are installed on the vessel.
  • These systems improve the ship’s manoeuvrability and handling.
  • The ship is armed with a 30 mm CRN 91 gun. It also carries two 12.7 mm Stabilized Remote-Controlled Guns (SRCG).
  • All weapons are integrated with a modern fire-control system.
  • The vessel includes advanced systems like the Integrated Bridge System (IBS).
  • It is also equipped with an Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS).
  • An Automated Power Management System (APMS) further enhances automation and efficiency.
  • ICGS Akshar is based in Karaikal under the Coast Guard Region (East).
  • It will be used for maritime surveillance, coastal security, and law enforcement tasks.
  • The name "Akshar" means “eternal” or “imperishable” in Sanskrit.
  • It symbolizes the Coast Guard’s enduring commitment to safe and secure seas.

8. The India-UK naval exercise KONKAN-2025 has started off the western coast of India.

  • It is a joint maritime exercise between the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy.

  • KONKAN-2025 will be held in two phases — a harbour phase and a sea phase.

  • Joint Working Group meetings will be held during this phase.

  • Flying operations and seamanship drills are also part of the training.
  • The United Kingdom is participating with its Carrier Strike Group 2025 (UK CSG-25).
  • HMS Prince of Wales is leading the UK Carrier Strike Group.
  • Naval assets from Norway and Japan are also part of UK CSG-25. This adds a multinational aspect to KONKAN-2025.
  • The Indian Navy is deploying INS Vikrant, its indigenously built aircraft carrier.
  • Other Indian surface ships, submarines, and aircraft will also participate.
  • After the naval drills end on 12 October, UK CSG-25 will remain in the region.
  • On 14 October, it will carry out a one-day exercise with the Indian Air Force.
  • This joint air-sea drill will also take place off India’s western coast.
  • Afterward, the UK group will continue its scheduled deployment.
